Transit-to-Trails Program Coordinator

Job Description: The City Project’s Transit-to-Trails Program Coordinator will be responsible for helping coordinate the Transit-to-Trails program which takes urban youth and their families on mountain, beach and river day trips. Responsibilities include coordinating and promoting events, creating bilingual flyers, calling families, making presentations, and tracking participation via a computer database. The coordinator will make lots of phone calls, so should be very outgoing. The coordinator will work mostly out of the offices of Anahuak Youth Soccer Organization in Cypress Park, and occasionally at The City Project offices in downtown Los Angeles.
Hours/Compensation: The position is part-time with varied hours averaging 20 hours/week, working many weekends, including the last Saturday of each month. Position is funded through mid-2009. The program may continue after that time, depending on securing additional funding. Salary somewhat negotiable and commensurate with experience, though expected to be approximately $10/hour.
Required skills/abilities: bilingual fluent in Spanish/English, ability to communicate well orally and in writing, basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel , email), and prior applicable experience (such as outreach, organizing, event production, and/or working with children.)
Preferred (though not required): completion of some college (current college students welcomed), and proficiency in Photoshop.
