Morgan House – designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan
Posted: March 16th, 2009The City Project celebrates Women’s History Month March 2009.
Morgan House is a Crafstman building designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan, whose work was often commissioned by women’s groups. It is now the YWCA of the Harbor area.
“Thanks for the note about trail-blazer Julia Morgan; she made other significant architectural places in Berkeley (they claim her). It brings to mind the astounding impact of civil rights and just laws such as the Civil Rights act of ’64, Title IX and the 1973 Indian Self-Determination Act. What a huge impact those laws have made on our lives and our communities; how those laws have enriched all of our lives! Shows the importance of such legislation and the significance of the courageous leadership and trailblazers that made the U.S. government do the right thing!” Dave Singleton
