Fort Baker Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Fort Baker, a 335-acre former U.S. Army Post north of the Golden Gate Bridge, is the ninth and final “Post-to-Park” conversion in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The site preserves historic buildings and emplacements, features a sheltered harbor and jetty, and boasts numerous trails and forested areas climbing gently up from San Francisco Bay.

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area serves as a best practice example of the type of large and sustainable urban park that should be replicated in Southern California and beyond.
