“Rail Plan Stirs Distrust Among Black Angelenos. The Leimert Park neighborhood, the heart of black culture in Los Angeles, may be left without a stop on a new rail line,” according to the New York Times.

In the meantime, a local sales tax ballot measure for transportation funding has apparently failed, opposed by black leadership and others. Measure J would extend a 1/2 cent sales tax dedicated to transportation for 30 years, but is falling short of a 2/3 vote requirement.
