El Pueblo Pelanconi House

El Pueblo Pelanconi House

Built by Italian vintner Giuseppi Covaccichi and purchased by winemaker Antonio Pelanconi in 1871, the Pelanconi House is the oldest fired brick building in Los Angeles. It is the oldest business on Olvera Street, La Golondrina Café, reputedly the first restaurant in the city to serve Mexican instead of Spanish food. The restaurant also boasts a fireplace fashioned from stones from the remnants of the Zanja Madre.
