Why: The L.A. River Master Plan process has selected five opportunity sites including (1) El Rio de Los Angeles State Park at Taylor Yard, and (2) the Los Angeles State Historic Park at the Cornfield. Many residents that live nearby remain unaware of how L.A. River Revitalization might alter the landscape of their community, despite previous outreach efforts. At the community meetings the Alianza will provide information about healthy parks, schools, and communities, with jobs, an even playing field for small business enterprises, affordable housing, and sustainable construction. Community feedback given at the meetings will be taken directly to elected officials, so that River Revitalization in part will be built on the dreams of local residents.

The mission of the Alianza de los Pueblos del Rio is to ensure that the master plan process provides democratic participation and equitable results in the revitalization of the Los Angeles River with healthy parks, schools, and communities. We seek economic, environmental, equitable, and healthy development and human health for all communities along the River for generations to come.

“Let your voice be heard. Attend a neighborhood meeting and help shape the future of your community and the River.”
