L.A. City Council Votes to Support the Baldwin Hills Conservancy

Posted: March 30th, 2005

The Los Angeles City Council has unanimously passed a resolution supporting the Baldwin Hills Conservancy and opposing the California Performance Review’s (CPR) recommendation to terminate the Conservancy and its state funding. The resolution also supported Assemblywoman Karen Bass’s bill AB 856, which extends the repeal date for the Baldwin Hills Conservancy to January 1, 2011. The Conservancy is set to expire in 2008. The Mayor is expected to sign the resolution within days.

This is an important victory to implement the Master Plan for a two-square mile park in the Baldwin Hills that will be the nation’s biggest natural urban park created in over 100 years.
