Child Obesity 29.3% Highest in Los Angeles — City Council District 8 Bernard Parks
29.3% of children are obese in City Council District 8 (Parks) from South Los Angeles to the Baldwin Hills, the highest level in the City of Los Angeles . Even the lowest level of 18.3% is unacceptably high in City Council District 5 (Weiss) in West Los Angeles. The child obesity level is only 4% in Manhattan Beach.
There are 1.59 total acres of parks per thousand residents in District 8 (Parks), compared to the lowest level of .43 in District 10 (Wesson) and the highest level of 57.68 in District 11 (Rosendahl) in West Los Angeles.
City Counci District 8 (Parks) has 1.27 net acres of urban parks per thousand residents, compared to the lowest levels of .35 in District 10 (Wesson) in South Los Angeles and District 13 (Garcetti) in Central Los Angeles, and the highest level of 15.86 in District 12 (Smith) in the West San Fernando Valley.
