L.A. River Community Group Advocate Award
The City of Los Angeles and the Ad Hoc Committee on the Los Angeles River have awarded the L.A. River Community Group Advocate award to the Center for Law in the Public Interest for its work to green the River. The City and various agencies have partnered to organize a two-month long “The Future is Now” campaign to celebrate and highlight the River and watershed achievements of many organizations, projects, individuals, and employees.
The Center is spearheading the creation of a Heritage Parkscape connecting parks and other historical, educational, and environmental links along the River. With the creation of parks in the Cornfield and Taylor Yard along the River, and $5.5 million in state and $3 million in federal funding for these new parks that will help green the River, residents of Los Angeles will be able to play, walk, and run along the River. The greening of the Los Angeles River was an integral part of the 1930 Olmsted Vision for Los Angeles.
We invite all our friends to the L.A. River Day Celebration, where recipients of the L.A. River Awards will be recognized.
