Monuments, Diversity, and Democracy: Los Angeles State Historic Park at the Cornfield

The grand opening of the Los Angeles State Historic Park at the Cornfield on September 23, 2006. The site couuld have been warehouses. Instead, it’s a park. Activists and advocates galvanized community support to create the state park and stop 32 acres of warehouses. The Los Angeles Times called the victory “a heroic monument” and “a symbol of hope.” Learn more about the struggle for the Park. Los Angeles City Cultural Historical Landmark 82 is located at the site.
