OPEN MIGUEL CONTRERAS POOL!

NEWSLETTER SPRING 2007

The Olympic-size pool at the new $168 million Miguel Contreras Learning Center in Pico Union was closed to the community for the summer. Working with ACORN, The City Project mounted a successful campaign on television and radio, in print, and in the blogosphere that persuaded Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to provide shuttle service from the neighborhood to the Griffith Park and Cypress Park pools while the city and LAUSD negotiate an agreement to provide life guards to open the Miguel Contreras pool.
