“A Way of Saying No to War, No to Violence”

Nobel Peace Laureate Rigoberta Menchú Tum, a Mayan woman from Guatemala, has praised the work of The City Project and the Anahuak Youth Soccer Association for our work to bring parks, school yards, and green space to the children of Los Angeles. “It is very important that our children grow up healthy. The more they run, the happier they are. The more they play together with other children, the better people they will be in the future. Parks and school yards are a place for peace, a place where life-long values are built. Community activism to build parks and schools is a way of saying no to violence, no to war. Peace and hope are part of our children’s education and culture.”
